HOW TO REACH NORCIA
If you reside outside Italy, follow these easy steps: - Fly to Rome Airport (code: FCO)--Rome Leonardo Da Vinci Airport is Rome's principle airport (also known as Fiumicino)--but do check all the airlines flying to Rome first.
- catch the connection to the main railway station (Roma Termini) for a 30-minute ride ($18/14 Euros)--the airport is about 16 miles/26 Km from downtown Rome. You can easily purchase the ticket for this connection when you land.
- at this point, depending on your landing time, you may might want to rest in Rome and consider traveling to Norcia the day after your arrival (strongly recommended).
- if you decide not to stay in Rome for one night, skip to point 6.
- A budget hotel (useful to students, generally) is conveniently located near the Roma Termini railway and is run by an American couple from Los Angeles (no troubles with English!): The Beehive. Here is a map. Otherwise, click here.
- travel to Spoleto by train (you can purchase the ticket when you are at the Roma Termini railway station or online, but you should check the schedule well in advance in order to coordinate your trip carefully). Train run approximately every hour with the journey taking between 1hr 15mins to 1hr 40mins.
- Once you arrive in Spoleto station (Stazione F.S.), you have to take the direct bus to Norcia leaving from the square in front of the station. The ticket (one-way) costs about 4.90 € and can be bought at the newspapers stall inside the station. Travel time is less than one hour.
This is an example of a timetable (working days) but the times may be different now. - Spoleto __6.55 10.00 13.35 14.05 17.10 20.00
Norcia ___7.50 10.55 14.30 15.00 18.20 20.55
